There are plenty of volunteer opportunities here at MSPR and the Ukiah Animal Shelter. We promote all and any form of volunteering. Every little bit truly helps the animals, so we are all on board for finding something you’d enjoy to help the animals in our community.
Here at MSPR we offer the following volunteer opportunities:
- Assisting in marketing adoptable pets, which includes posting on social media and pet adoption websites
- Assisting in fundraising for MSPR
- Assisting in creating a foster network
- Help transporting animals
- Creating a cat team network
- Creating a dog team network
- Lost/Found Pet help
- Writers for adoptable pet bios
- Pet Photography
- And more!
If you want to help out in some way, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We welcome any and all community members to get involved.
At the Ukiah Animal Shelter, there is currently a DESPERATE NEED for more volunteers to walk the dogs and play with the cats. Volunteers are crucial in helping the shelter animals get adopted as well as stay adoptable. Being stuck in a small kennel without any human contact can make many of the pets very unhappy and stressed, which could lead to an unadoptable pet. Volunteering is fun and is also very rewarding. To become a volunteer, you will need to attend a one-hour introductory orientation, and then come back for a one-on-one session with a shelter volunteer or staff to get ‘hands-on’ experience. If you have a few hours or more to spare once a week, please stop by for one of the shelter’s volunteer orientations at the Ukiah Animal Shelter. Orientations are held the FIRST WEDNESDAY at 5:30pm and THIRD SATURDAY at 9:00am every month at the shelter, located at 298 Plant Road in Ukiah. If you are younger than 18 years of age, please be sure to bring your parent or legal guardian with you. For more information email us at email@example.com.
PLEASE consider becoming a shelter volunteer! If you become a volunteer at the Ukiah Animal Shelter – LET US KNOW!
Email to us at firstname.lastname@example.org us and tell us about your experience and your favorite animal, send us some photos and inquire about fostering! Any information or photos that you have will help us find homes for the shelter pets and we might even be able to pull your favorite pet into our rescue with YOUR help!
Have you heard about the Ukiah Animal Shelter’s monthly Empty the Shelter Pack Walk? If you haven’t, you’re missing out on a ton of fun!
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC: Can you only help out once a month? The Ukiah Animal Shelter holds an Empty the Shelter Pack Walk open to the community the second Saturday of every month at 9am in honor of Nancy Commons, a devoted volunteer who passed away. She was an amazing woman, animal advocate and volunteer. No one was more dedicated than Nancy. Rain or shine she was there to walk the dogs. She is dearly missed by everyone. So, what a better way than to honor her with a Pack Walk to get ALL the dogs out once a month? We’re in, are you? You don’t have to sign up in advance, just show up, fill out some paperwork and walk a dog! Respectful kids are welcome as long as they have an adult with them! See you then! :)
